About me

Hi!

Being a seeker for as long as I can remember, I was introduced to yoga in my early twenties and never turned back. I have been practising yoga for about 20 years and teaching for a little over 17 years in the Ottawa community. I was drawn to the transformational effects inspired by yoga: deep relaxation, patience, feeling centred and grounded, and, most importantly, overall well-being and a connection to one’s true self. This led me to opening a yoga centre in 2002 so that I could share the teachings with the community. After 11 years and much success with the business, I sold it so that I could focus on my “true” calling: sharing the teachings and helping students heal. This is my passion!

I have been blessed to witness the beneficial effects of yoga on the lives of students daily and this continues to inspire me. My goal in classes is to encourage you to bring the steadiness and calm found on the mat out into the real world, so that you can find joy, inner peace and healing in all aspects of life. Being a mom myself to two young daughters, I am now more than ever been awakened to the many, many benefits the teachings of yoga offer!

I am grateful to be a longtime student of Yogarupa Rod Stryker (Parayoga) and my teaching is very much influenced by the teachings he shares. I have also studied Ayurveda (yoga’s sister science) which I have a deep love for. I enjoy merging the two modalities and the wisdom of both in all my offerings.

My second teacher is Pete Bernard (Algonquin Medicine Man from the Algonquin Pikwakanagan First Nation). I have studied Shamanism under Pete and completed the 320 hours of training for the “Earning the Light Training Program”. This has been another layer of wisdom and healing I am grateful to add to my classes, trainings, workshops and retreats. I offer private healing sessions upon request and Holistic Healing Evenings every two months where we come together for yoga and a healing ceremony.

I have also studied Reiki under Pete Bernard and offer Reiki sessions upon request. I am grateful to be able share all this wisdom; seeing students find peace and healing is the best experience in the world.

I am 500-hour E-RYT registered, teach several classes a week, lead Teacher Training and Enrichment programs, and offer workshops, healings and yearly retreats.

Many Blessings,

Roxanne
